You can curl your eyelashes before applying mascara if you want a more lifted look. Curling first helps shape the lashes, while applying mascara afterwards helps define and hold the curl. Avoid curling after mascara, as this may make lashes more likely to stick or break.
Daily mascara use is generally fine when applied and removed gently. To protect the lashes, avoid rubbing the eyes, remove mascara fully at the end of the day, and replace old mascara regularly to keep the formula fresh.
Choose mascara based on your lash type and the result you want. Volumising mascara helps lashes look fuller, lengthening mascara creates a longer-looking effect, waterproof mascara resists water and humidity, and coloured mascara adds a more playful finish.
It is best not to refill or reuse an old mascara bottle for eye makeup, as this can affect hygiene around the eyes. If you want to clean an empty bottle for non-cosmetic use, wash the tube and brush thoroughly with warm water and soap, rinse well, and allow them to dry completely.
