Look for a formula described as long-lasting, transfer-resistant, smudge-resistant or water-resistant. Consider the finish and texture as well, since liquid, matte and two-step lip products may provide different levels of comfort, color intensity and wear.
Apply lipstick to clean, smooth lips and use lip liner to create a defined base. Build the color in thin layers and allow it to dry or set according to the product instructions. Avoid rubbing the lips together while a liquid formula is drying.
